BEVERLEY Under-15’s crashed out of the Yorkshire Bowl as they were beaten 39-10 by a strong West Park Leeds side at home on Sunday.
The game began with uncontested scrums at the behest of the visitors, a situation that was to affect Beverley as it neutered their strong pack while allowing the fast-running West Leeds team to gain momentum.
The contest was closely fought with West Park using their penalty advantage to great effect notching 15 points from kicks during the game. However, Beverley did gain useful territory and a try from Harrison Petrie ensured a 14-5 half-time score and all to play for.
Early in the second half West Park punished Beverley through penalties, but the home team again managed a try to close the gap through Ben Wilkinson. West Park soon broke through and following the sin binning of Beverley wing Ben Ashley they managed to extend the margin of victory.
This was a close another close game against a strong outfit, Beverley continue to improve and will continue to look to take fixtures against the better teams in Yorkshire throughout the season.
