Under 16 Wetherby Away - Lost 17-42

Match Report

Beverley Under-16’s travelled to Wetherby on Sunday and had a tough day against the Yorkshire cup champions losing 42-17.

The brave Beverley side put up a spirited performance but looked tired and battle weary after several tough games and no player rotation due to their small squad.

Beverley were very much in the game as the sides turned around at half-time with the score Wetherby 14 Beverley 5.

However, having no replacements to field after an early injury to full back Tom Wright, the side played with the help of Wetherby who  sportingly lent Beverley a player to match numbers.

The final score was slightly unkind to the visitors who played bravely to the end. Nevertheless, Wetherby were simply stronger on the day and deserved their win.

Beverley's try scorers were prop Tom Baker, second row Will Hatherley and guest Bryce Parnaby from Wetherby. Hatherley had one try disallowed (held up over the line) and Thomas Meldon added a conversion.

The highlight of the day was Beverley's man of the match winger Josh Cammack, who had his best game of the season.
