Beverley RUFC Under-13’s produced a dominant display to defeat Driffield 55 -10 at Beaver Park on Sunday.
The hosts started quickly with Cruz going over for the first try in the second minute following a Parkinson surge from a free pass.
Man of the Match England made it 10-0 three minutes later with a customary mazy run. Beverley were keen to press home their advantage with half backs Youngs and Bayes making a menace of themselves leading a rush defence that was giving Driffield neither time nor space.
Such pressure created a turnover close to the Driffield try line which Gorman took advantage of to stretch Beverley’s lead to 15-0. Like many of his colleagues Gorman had a strong game making numerous try saving tackles at full back as Driffield came back and had a strong ten minutes of territory and possession but were unable to score.
Demoralisingly for the visitors, England then made it 20-0 at half time with a chip and chase.
Beverley’s forwards had got through a lot of work in the first half with Parkinson and Willans, starting in the pack for the first time, in particular catching the eye and the pressure told in the second half when the floodgates opened. Cammack, having his best game for the club seized on loose ball in Beverleys own 22 and drove up to the halfway line before releasing Stevens to make it 25-0.
Beverley’s backs were having a field day with a superb display of quick handling rugby controlled by Bayes, finessed by Coutties beautiful hands, strengthened by Cruz direct running and finished ruthlessly by England, Stevens and Fenn.
England and Cruz went on to complete their hat-trick of tries, Gorman his brace while Fenn and Couttie made sure they didn’t miss out on the fun with a try each as Beverley completed their comfortable victory.
