Beverley under-14’s gave a much-improved all-round display to notch a 19-5 victory at Castleford on Sunday.
Still missing several key players, the Beavers started strongly and after a strong run by Ben Fennell the ball was recycled along the line for Bailey Wood to score in the corner. Josh Milburn shrugged off several attempted tackles to extend the lead soon after with Joe Rose adding the conversion.
The home side struggled to get any momentum against some determined tackling and with man of the match scrum half Toby Redman linking well with fly-half Will Dobson, it was Beverley driving forward through the likes of Spencer Roberts, Will Tunstall, Matty Broughton and Rhys Innes. Alex Morris charged over for a try, converted by Rose, before half-time.
The home side had more of the ball after the break and managed to reduce the arrears but it was Beverley who finished the stronger with Redman and winger Brandon Leggett both coming up just short of further tries.
