Match Report
Beverley under-14’s gave a patchy performance to suffer two defeats against a strong touring Carlisle side on Sunday.
The Beavers lost the first game 38-5 after the visitors took control with early breakaway tries. Alex Hodgkinson gave a true captain’s performance with a series of crunching tackles ably assisted by Jonathan Clougher and Isaac Galloway and the home side started to exert some pressure as the game went on. However, they could only manage one try when, after a break by Hodgkinson, forced out of the game soon after with a knee injury, the ball was put through the hands and Matty Broughton forced his way over from close range.
Beverley were then beaten by the second Carlisle team 50-5 with scrum-half Will Dobson now also on the side-line through injury. Rhys Innes stepped into his position and led the team around the pitch well with Ben Fennell and Jack Thompson more involved in the tackle area and Will Tindall making a number of useful drives. Carlisle though were stronger and fitter and broke the line repeatedly to score. Alex Morris did manage to force his way over for a consolation try.
