Beverley under-14’s produced their best rugby of the season to clinch a 39-19 victory in their first-ever game against Morley at this age group.
The visitors – despite losing a player early on due to injury – were well-drilled but struggled with the high defensive line by the Beavers’ backs, led by skipper Alex Hodgkinson, or the power and running of the forwards where pack leader Rhys Innes excelled alongside Jonathan Clougher, Spencer Roberts, Matty Broughton, Jack Thompson, Isaac Galloway and Alex Morris who made a very promising debut.
The pace and strength of man of the match Bailey Wood resulted in the first try closely followed by tries from Ben Fennell, Will Tindall and Alec Miller.
Morley refused to give in and two tries, one converted, reduced the deficit only for Innes to surge over for a try with Joe Rose adding the points. The visitors added another converted try but Beverley were in no mood to relax and further tries from Olly Mason and Hodgkinson, the latter converted again by Rose, made the result a true reflection of the game.
